Rental Agreement Loss Damage Waivers

Approved Rental Purchase Agreement Contracts and Companies

Senate Bill 279, article 24, passed by the 78th Legislature and signed into law by the Governor on June 20, 2003 amends Subchapter F, Texas Business and Commerce Code, Chapter 35 regulating Rental Agreements. The bill prohibits merchants from selling a loss damage waiver unless the form of the contract containing the waiver has been approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The bill became effective September 1, 2003.
